One of the ducklings born to Mother Duck is ugly. Nobody wants to look at him or play with him. Neighbors invent excuses to drive the duckling away. Even Mother Duck, his only protector, believes the lies and rejects him. He is cast out.

The duckling is left alone—hungry, cold, and suffering. He feels abandoned and lonely. However, with the help of kind souls, he is saved. His saviors, in the form of cranes, welcome him into their flock. The ugly duckling transforms into a beautiful crane, admired and envied by all.

The authors emphasize the importance of inner beauty and relationships over external appearance, promoting these values to the audience.

The play features beautiful artistic imagery and choreographic elements.
