Asaf Mehman's work "Sadef" focuses on the theme of family life.
The story tells about the love of a young man named Hemzebey, who returns to his native village after studying engineering, and a girl named Sadef, who also comes back after studying medicine.
Sadef's mother, Gulumat, does not consider Hemzebey suitable for her daughter. However, the young couple loves each other. Throughout the work, the villagers, such as Murtuz Shahnabat and others, engage in a real struggle with Gulumat, and in the end, Sadef and Hemzebey are reunited.
The work concludes with traditions and wedding ceremonies characteristic of the Lezgin people.
